Maximize Your Diet
There are many ways to lose weight and dieting is probably the most popular method for most people. But did you know that you can get a lot more from your diet than merely sticking to the diet sheet and only doing as much as you think is necessary to lose that excess weight? In fact, you can actually get a lot more from any diet by doing a few fairly simple yet highly effective things that are probably not on that diet sheet and it's pretty easy to do them because you can incorporate them into your daily routine.
Most people think about going to the gym and working out like crazy to boost the effectiveness of their diet but that's not really necessary unless of course you really want to do that. There are some really simple, smart tricks you can pull to maximize your diet and lose a few extra pounds on top of what you would normally expect to lose from just following your diet sheet on its own. Here's how:
The first thing you can do is to start your day in a better way. Many people hate getting up in the morning because they wake up feeling lethargic, tired and wishing they could just roll over and go back to sleep. Of course, this is rarely an option unless it's Sunday, so for the rest of the week, how about doing something a little different that is actually also very enjoyable. You can start the day by throwing off those bed covers and doing a few simple stretching exercises while you're still laying there on the bed! You start with your feet and toes, your ankles, your lower legs, knees, thighs, buttocks, back, torso, arms, shoulders and neck. Really feel each muscle stretching comfortably (don't overdo it) before moving on to the next. It’s a really great way to start each day and it jump starts your metabolism too.
During the day, you should make sure you drink about eight glasses (two pints) of plain water spread out through the day. You can't replace it with soda or coffee, it has to be plain water because its good for you, is the best thing to hydrate your body with and carries zero calories of additives. It will make you feel less hungry so you actually eat less, while digesting the food you do eat much more efficiently leading to greater calorie burn.
You should get some light exercise through the day, but you don't need a gym to get it. Make sure you walk more and when you walk, put a spring into your step and pick up the pace! It burns more calories that way. If you usually take an elevator at your place of work, instead take the stairs! Its little things like that which really make a difference when they're all added up at the end of the day. And they all make better use of your diet because they cause your body to work a little harder and burn more of those calories for better weight loss and better overall fitness!
